BethAnne vs Anti-Mormonism

 Good Works Are They Necessary?
Back to Full Blog

Here is another quote that I thought I would share that some in the stream believe proves we are not Christians.

"The children of men will be judged according to their works, whether
they be good or bad. If a man's days be filled up with good works, he
will be rewarded accordingly. On the other hand, if his days be filled up with evil actions, he will receive according to those acts. . . . When will the people realize that this is the period of time in which they should commence to lay the foundation of their exaltation for time and eternity, that this is the time to conceive, and bring forth from the heart fruit to the honor and glory of God, as Jesus did." (Brigham Young)

Now we as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints aka the Mormons aka the LDS Church (non fundamentalist)(non pologimist) are very much aware that works alone will not get you into Heaven.

You must be baptized by water by immersion and then by fire which is the baptism of the Holy Ghost.

In theory these Anti-Mormons believe that works are not important for entrance into Heavenly Father's Kingdom. Yet while Christ was on his mission or in his ministry he did teach and share and correct incorrect principles and he did many great works.

He insisted that he be baptised by John the Baptist by immersion and the Holy Ghost conferred his spirit upon him in the shape of a dove as this was the most special baptism in the world. It set the example of what we need to do.

Many times Christ exhorted his disciples and his Apostles to feed his sheep and to become like him. How can we do that if we only do good works with out the proper baptisms and if we only have the baptisms and not the works how could we possibly look Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ in the eyes and tell them that we did all that we could to share His words and help our fellow man just as the good Samaratin did?

What say ye? Beth

It is such a basic truth. Christ's entire mission here on Earth followed the path that his Father prescribed. Christ continually made it clear that whatever he did was as a consequence of the obedience to His Father. Likewise, as you say, not only did he set the flawless example - He said it as well - that we follow as He.

Seems like we have Lucy and the others throwing in the towel. The Orthodoxy has learned to worship with a great many contradictions. Now they can add another. The Schultz syndrom: ala Hogans Heros....whenever he saw something that he disagreed with he found it easier to turn the other way, pretending nothing was happening.

In explanation to new readers, there have been huge numbers of Protestants combating here for the longest of time...all from Dummies. They have evidently resigned and no longer venture into these waters.

Stealth,

you know well enough that I said I was not going to try and bring truth here any longer because the two of you refused to even attempt to research the terms you were tossing around and continued to use them incorrectly to try and prove a point.

I have no desire to waste my time with self inflicted ignorance any longer. I only say this because otherwise you will sit back and bask in the glory that is stealth at having said such foolishness unchallenged.

PuriCristos it really makes no difference to me if you come or not. I am not here to challenge your opinions. I am here to offer mine. For some reason or another that really bothers you.

I finally have an answer to your one false prophecy false prophet stance. It is going to be my next post. I hope you at least look at what I post. Your participation is not necessary.

I am not out to win a popularity contest. I am out to show that there are points of view that are different from those of you, thomisticguy and lookingforlucy et al...

Take care of yourself. Beth.

Gecko, of course I would love the input of others but it is not necessary. I can only try to entice them here with their own words and hope they care to defend themselves.

Don't be so hard on LookinforLucy right now. Her sister was murdered yesterday so I'll cut her some slack and do all I can to support her. I know you will keep her in your prayers as well.

I only know because I decided to drop in on her blog. What a horrible thing to have happen.

And to think that President Woodruff said that the times in which they were living were worse than the times of Sodom and Gommorah.

Take care my friend. As you can tell I am waiting for my night meds to kick in. Beth.

Being isolated out here in Hawaii has its blessings. Nobody gives us much mind in our corner of the Island. Got a small quake today nevertheless

You are doing just fine.

Thank you for the update. I no longer travel in her direction.

A Gecko pulled a new one tonite. He/she strolled across my computer screen while I was noting on MSNBC that my Dallas Cowboys won a football game.

Aloha to you Sister. We fly to Honolulu tomorrow to pick up our dogs....they having traveled finally from the mainland.

If during the day one thinks of himself better than another it is a sin. My actions do not take away from my believe so as I am with God always my duty is to remain faithfull to his words. I await my time with God and will let my actions speak of my faith. TS
