BethAnne vs Anti-Mormonism

 Temples
Back to Full Blog

Here again in another of the lessons that some on the stream would not like to have people know about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints aka the Mormons aka the LDS Church (non-reformist) (non-pologymist).

Blessings of the Temple
---------------------------------------------------

"The ideals of faith, hope, and charity are most evident in the holy
temples. There we learn the purpose of life, strengthen our commitment as disciples of Christ by entering into sacred covenants with Him, and seal our families together for eternity across generations.

Receiving our own endowment in a temple and returning frequently to perform sacred ordinances for our kindred dead increases our faith, strengthens our hope, and deepens our charity. We receive our own endowment with faith and hope that we will understand the Lord's plan for His children, will recognize the divine potential within each of us as children of our Heavenly Father, and will be faithful to the end in keeping the covenants we make. Performing temple
ordinances for the dead is a manifestation of charity, offering
essential blessings to those who have preceded us, blessings that were not available to them during their mortal lives. We have the privilege of doing for them what they are unable to do for themselves."

(Joseph B. Wirthlin, "Cultivating Divine Attributes," Ensign, Nov.
1998, 27)

Although Elder Wirthlin has passed from this mortal coil his words ring as true now more than ever as families are falling apart; we have the way to save them for not just time but for all eternity.

Yes, BethAnne. My discussions in the past with online Protestants have produced some dismally morbid responses.

1. I don't even know if I am good for mortality; FOREVER? Give me a break.

2. Marriage is nothing more than God's law to govern the proper practice of sexual intercourse, nothing more. That is all the energy anyone should put into the marriage vows.

3. They mischaracterize the words of Christ in the Bible when questioned on the matter, thinking He denies the existance of marriage in Heaven.

They go to these extreme ends in order to maintain the notion that love and charity as exhibited in Heaven cannot have the incomparable experience of devotion found in mortal marriage. Of course, they do not know anything of covenant. They do not know of what God provides by covenant.

My marriage is more alive today under covenant, having a stronger commitment, than any time prior to making those temple covenants. Frankly, the success of these marriages is proof positive that God is good for it.

I also believe the Lord inspires others, even unknowingly to speak the truth to inspire.

MICHAEL BOLTON | Forever Isn't Long Enough Lyrics

The tickin' of the clock, the beating of my heart
Pounding like a drum in the dark for you
If I could conquer time, I'd love you day and night
And make this moment last , baby, all my life

Ask me how long I'll need you
Ask me how long I'll be there

CHORUS:
Forever isn't long enough, to give you my love
To give you my love
Till the end of time isn't time enough
For everything I wanna do
Forever isn't long enough to give all my love to you

I watch you as you sleep, I'm jealous of the night
I'd steal you from your dreams, just to buy more time
There's so much in my heart, there's so much in my soul
A lifetime ain't enough to ever let you know

Tell me this will be for always
Tell me you'll always be there

CHORUS

'Cause the time is passin' by, and the more it slips away
When I look into your eyes, I know....baby
It isn't long enough, to give you my love
Forever ain't enough to give it all to you
There isn't time enough to see it all through
Forever isn't long enough to give all my love to you

Ask me how long I'll need you
Ask me how long I'll be there

CHORUS(repeat)

(Aloha)

Gecko, very nice lyrics that reminds me of another song. I believe Belinda Carlisle sang it:

Close your eyes, give me your hand in mine
Do you feel my heart beating?
Do you understand? Can it be this way?
Or am I only dreaming?
Is the beating an eternal flame?

Most love songs are written in the eternal sense and I believe because inherietently we as human beings want to take our loved ones with us and be with them together forever.

Yet if you listen to most on TFD they seem to believe we will all be sort of mingling like at a coctail party and we'll recognize each other but the feelings of love we connect with and have on this earth won't carry over into eternity.

It just flies in the face of what the soul knows is right.

Take care my brother in the gospel. Beth.
